Types of physcial truama

Brain trauma and hyperbaric

Brain trauma, or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), happens when an external force injures the brain. This can range from a mild concussion to severe brain damage caused by accidents, falls, sports injuries, or blasts.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a powerful tool in supporting recovery from brain trauma by delivering oxygen to damaged brain tissue, reducing swelling, and inducing tissue healing.

Type of Brain Trauma

Examples

Mild Traumatic Brain Injury - Concussion (e.g., sports, falls, whiplash)

Moderate to Severe TBI - Car accidents, blunt force trauma, military injuries

Diffuse Axonal Injury - Shearing of brain connections (common in high-speed   trauma)

Post-surgical Trauma - Brain tissue disruption from neurosurgery

Hypoxic brain injury - After cardiac arrest, near drowning, CO poisoning

Hyperbaric therapy can also help with brain bleeding and post stroke.

Muscle Trauma and hyperbaric

What is Muscle trauma?  Muscle trauma is an injury or damage to muscle tissue, typically caused by physical stress, strain, or direct impact. It can range from mild soreness to severe tears or internal bleeding.

Muscle trauma is a soft tissue injury caused by strain, impact, overuse, or accidents. It may lead to pain, swelling, bruising, or weakness. Treatment ranges from rest and physical therapy to surgery. This type of injury can benefit from HBOT with 100% oxygen with rapid reduction of inflammation and a shorter healing time.

Type

Strain (pulled muscle) - Overstretching or tearing muscle fibers

Lifting something too heavy

Tear (partial or complete) - More severe than a strain — muscle fibers rupture

Hamstring tears during sprinting

Contusion (bruise) - Direct impact damages muscle tissue and blood vessels

Struck by a hard object or fall onto hard surface

⚠️ Common Symptoms

  • Sudden sharp pain
  • Swelling or inflammation
  • Bruising (discoloration under the skin)
  • Weakness in the muscles
  • Limited range of motion
  • Muscle spasms or cramping

Bone trauma and Hyperbaric

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy induces healing in the bones by saturating the bone and surrounding tissues in 100% oxygen, thereby reducing inflammation and stimulating the formation of new blood vessels and stem cells to heal and bond itself.

What Is Bone Physical Trauma?

Bone trauma refers to injuries affecting the bones, including:

Type

Fractures - Partial or complete breaks in the bone

Broken arm from a fall or car accident

Crush injuries - Severe compression damaging bone and surrounding tissue

Industrial accidents

Open (compound) fractures - Broken bone pierces the skin, risking infection

Gunshots or severe trauma

Stress fractures - Small cracks from repetitive stress or overuse

Runner’s shin splints

Bone contusions - Bone bruises caused by impact without fracture

Sports impacts

Soft Tissue trauma

Soft tissue trauma refers to injuries involving the muscles, ligaments, tendons, skin, fat, and other connective tissues, excluding bones and internal organs. It commonly results from blunt force, overuse, or penetrating injuries.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is an effective treatment for soft tissue trauma, especially when tissue oxygenation is compromised or healing is delayed.

Our Services

Types of Soft Tissue Injuries:

1. Closed Injuries (No break in skin):

  • Contusions (bruises): Bleeding under the skin from blunt trauma.

  • Strains: Overstretching or tearing of muscles or tendons.

  • Sprains: Overstretching or tearing of ligaments.

  • Hematomas: Localized collections of blood due to damaged blood vessels.

  •  2.  Open Injuries (Skin is broken):

  • Abrasions: Scraping of the skin surface.

  • Lacerations: Cuts or tears in the skin.

  • Puncture wounds: Deep, narrow wounds from sharp objects.

  • Avulsions: Tearing away of skin or soft tissue.

  • Degloving injuries: Severe avulsion with tissue separation from underlying structures.

Common Causes:

  • Falls

  • Sports injuries

  • Motor vehicle accidents

  • Blunt trauma

  • Overuse (in athletes or labor-intensive jobs)
